Round by round
Fitzpatrick wins by three
Matt Fitzpatrick is the FedEx Open de France champion on 20 under. A Saturday 65 took him five clear of Tom Vaillant, and when Eugenio Chacarra cut the gap to two early on Sunday, Fitzpatrick answered with birdies at the 13th and 15th on the way to a closing 70 and his 11th DP World Tour title. Tommy Fleetwood withdrew through illness before round three.
Angel Hidalgo (67) finished second on 17 under and takes the place in The 155th Open at St Andrews, with Matthieu Pavon (64), Kristoffer Reitan, Chacarra and Vaillant sharing third on 15 under. [Read the winner report](/tournaments/open-de-france-2026-winner/)
Cut falls at three under; leaders out at 10:35 GMT
Round two is complete and the official leaderboard confirms the cut at three under, not two under as projected earlier: 66 players go through to the weekend. That means Victor Perez, who made a hole-in-one on Friday before a closing triple bogey, misses out on two under, along with Ross Fisher and Marcus Kinhult. Hovland (seven under), Fleetwood (six), Åberg (five) and Pavon (four) all play on.
Nothing has changed at the top: Matt Fitzpatrick leads on 13 under from Jeff Winther (12) and Michael Kim (11). Round three goes off both tees in threes from 08:35 GMT, and the final group of Fitzpatrick, Winther and Kim tees off at 10:35 GMT (12:35 local). Official leaderboard · Tee times.
Round two resumes, cut set at two under
The last few groups returned at 06:45 GMT to finish round two, and the top of the leaderboard is unchanged: Matt Fitzpatrick leads on 13 under, one ahead of Jeff Winther, with defending champion Michael Kim third on 11 under and Ryan Gerard and Tom Vaillant on 10 under.
Nobody still on the course can reach the number, so the cut will fall at two under, with 79 players at that mark or better. Victor Perez survives on the line after yesterday's hole-in-one and closing triple bogey, and Viktor Hovland (seven under), Tommy Fleetwood (six) and Ludvig Åberg (five) are all through. Round three tee times will follow once the cut is confirmed. Official leaderboard.
Fitzpatrick takes the halfway lead
Matt Fitzpatrick leads the FedEx Open de France by one on 13 under after a bogey-free 64 in the afternoon wave. The Englishman went out in 32 with birdies at the 3rd, 4th, 6th and 9th, holed from 15 feet for eagle at the par-five 14th, rolled in a 25-footer at the 16th and got up and down from the fairway on the last to keep his card clean. Morning clubhouse leader Jeff Winther is one back on 12 under, and defending champion Michael Kim recovered from his early bogey to sign for a 68 and sit third on 11 under.
Ryan Gerard and Tom Vaillant are on 10 under, with Angel Hidalgo, Marcel Siem, Thriston Lawrence and Gregorio De Leo (a 68 today) on nine. Viktor Hovland (68) is on seven under, Tommy Fleetwood on six and Ludvig Åberg, who played alongside Fitzpatrick, shot 66 to reach five under. Victor Perez made a hole-in-one at the 11th but a triple bogey on his final hole left him at two under, right on the projected cut line. Play was suspended for bad light with nine players still on the course; round two resumes at 06:45 GMT (08:45 local) on Saturday, and the cut will be confirmed after that. Winther posts 64 to set the target
Denmark's Jeff Winther has the clubhouse lead at 12 under after a seven-under 64, adding to his opening 66. Two behind on 10 under are Ryan Gerard, who followed his 67 with a 65, and home favourite Tom Vaillant, who added a 65 to his opening 67. Angel Hidalgo, Marcel Siem (also 64 today) and Thriston Lawrence are in the clubhouse on nine under, with Kristoffer Reitan on eight.
The afternoon wave is still early in its rounds. Defending champion Michael Kim, bogey-free in his opening 63, has dropped his first shot of the week and is one over through two holes, at seven under, alongside Matt Fitzpatrick (one under through three). Tommy Fleetwood signed for a 67 to reach six under, and Viktor Hovland is two under for the day through three to sit at the same mark. The projected cut is two under, with Ludvig Åberg at level par early in his round. Andy Sullivan and Daniel Gavins have both retired. Official leaderboard.
The FedEx Open de France, continental Europe’s oldest national open, returns to Le Golf National, host of the 2018 Ryder Cup and the 2024 Olympic golf. It spent last year at Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche while the Albatros course was reworked around the new Paris Metro Line 18.
Three new holes and bentgrass on the Albatros
The par-71 Albatros reopened on 1 September. Holes four, five and six were redesigned by architect Russell Talley: the fourth is now a dogleg left to a raised green, the fifth doglegs right from an elevated tee to a green on a high point, and the sixth has a split fairway, new bunkers and a narrow, elevated green, set up as a drivable par four for big events. Several other greens were reshaped, the lake edges around the 1st, 2nd, 15th and 18th greens were reworked, and the whole course has been converted to bentgrass.
$625,000 and a St Andrews place
The event runs from 24 to 27 September. The purse is $3.75 million, with $625,000 to the winner, and the event is part of the Back 9, the DP World Tour’s closing stretch of the season.
Its champion also gets a place in the 155th Open at St Andrews next July, as the first event in The R&A’s qualifying series.
Kim, Fitzpatrick and the French contingent
- Michael Kim, the defending champion. The American won at Saint-Nom-la-Bretèche last year for his first DP World Tour title, and he has never played Le Golf National in competition before this week.
- Matt Fitzpatrick and Tommy Fleetwood, leading the English challenge; Fleetwood was part of Europe’s winning Ryder Cup team here in 2018.
- Viktor Hovland and Ludvig Åberg, the leading Scandinavians in the field.
- Thriston Lawrence, Kristoffer Reitan and Sam Bairstow, all tied for second after round one.
- The home contingent, including Matthieu Pavon, Antoine Rozner and 21-year-old amateur Rudy Sautron from La Réunion.

Corrections
- 26 Sept 2026, 08:10 GMT: Our 07:07 GMT update said the cut would fall at two under and that Victor Perez had survived. The official cut was three under, so Perez and the other players on two under missed the cut.
