LPGA Q-Series stage two moved to November after Florida rain
Flooding at Plantation Golf & Country Club has pushed the second stage back three weeks, leaving 13 days before the final stage in Alabama.
Seven inches of rain in a few days has postponed the second stage of the LPGA’s Q-Series, which was due to start on Tuesday at Plantation Golf & Country Club in Venice, Florida. Players were told on Sunday, by which time the field of more than 200 had already travelled to Florida.
The notice came from Jody Brothers, the Epson Tour’s chief business and operations officer, and was published by Golf Monthly. It said both courses, the Bobcat and the Panther, were “unplayable due to washed bunkers, standing water in the fairways, and unpassable cart paths”. The area has had more than 50 inches of rain since June, Golf Monthly reported.
The stage now runs from 3 to 6 November, with practice on 1 and 2 November and 7 November kept as a rain day. Players who finish all 72 holes in Venice but don’t advance earn Epson Tour status for 2027, graded by finishing position.
The final stage has not moved. It is still 19 to 23 November on the Falls and Crossings courses at Magnolia Grove in Mobile, Alabama, where the top 25 and ties earn LPGA Tour status for 2027.
That cuts the gap between the two stages from about five weeks to 13 days. The final stage also clashes with the Ladies European Tour’s Aramco China Championship.
Golf Monthly reported that the greens on one of the two courses had been under renovation since June and that the course had not reopened to members. Players are getting $1,000 off their entry fee, according to the journalist Ryan French.
The field includes the 104 players who came through pre-qualifying in September at Daytona Beach, Indian Wells and TPC Houston. Thailand’s Achiraya Sriwong, 17, won at Daytona Beach by five shots on −16.
