Rose, Scott and Inbee Park lead 14 Hall of Fame finalists for 2027

The shortlist was drawn from 162 nominations, the first the public could make. A 24-member committee votes, a candidate needs 75%, and the class is inducted at St Andrews in Open week.

The World Golf Hall of Fame on Monday named 14 finalists for its Class of 2027, and four of them are on the ballot for the first time: Justin Rose, Adam Scott, Inbee Park and CBS broadcaster Jim Nantz.

The inductees will be announced in December and honoured at a ceremony in St Andrews on Monday 12 July 2027, the week the Open returns to the Old Course, according to the Associated Press and Golf Channel.

Men’s competitors: Jim Furyk, Corey Pavin, Justin Rose, Adam Scott

Women’s competitors: Cristie Kerr, Liselotte Neumann, Inbee Park, Dottie Pepper

Historic players and amateurs: Ted Ray, Jay Sigel, Alexa Stirling

Contributors: Harry Colt, Butch Harmon, Jim Nantz

Furyk, Kerr, Pepper, Sigel and Harmon were all finalists for the 2024 class as well, Golf Digest reports.

Rose won the 2013 US Open, took Olympic gold in Rio in 2016 and has been world No. 1. Scott became the first Australian to win the Masters in 2013 and has also topped the world ranking. Both still compete at the highest level, Scott as recently as Sunday at Medinah, but they are in their mid-40s and so qualify under the Hall’s age rule for active players.

Park won seven major championships and the 2016 Olympic gold medal.

Nantz, long the voice of the Masters on CBS, is on the contributors’ list with Harry Colt, the architect behind some of the great courses of the British heathland, and the coach Butch Harmon.

According to the Hall’s published criteria, male and female competitors must have won at least one major and 15 or more worldwide events, and must be at least 45 or three years removed from regular tour play. A 24-member selection committee of Hall of Famers, board members and media will vote, and a candidate needs 75% support to be elected. Classes have usually numbered between four and six.

This was also the first year the public could nominate candidates. The Hall received 162 nominations, which working groups for each category narrowed down, according to the AP and Golf Digest.

We’d be surprised if Rose, Scott and Park were all left out. Furyk, a finalist in 2024 as well, is the 2003 US Open champion, shot the PGA TOUR’s first 58 and will captain the United States again at Adare Manor next year.

Among the historic names are Ted Ray, the 1912 Open and 1920 US Open champion, and Alexa Stirling, who won three US Women’s Amateur titles.
