Casandra Alexander wins Ladies Italian Open for second title in a month

The South African recovered from an early double bogey to win the Buccellati Ladies Italian Open at Golf Club Milano on 12 under, three clear, and strengthen her grip on the LET Order of Merit.

Casandra Alexander closed with a 3-under 69 at Golf Club Milano on Sunday to win the Buccellati Ladies Italian Open on 12 under par (204). Alexander, 27, from Johannesburg, finished three shots clear of Germany’s Sophie Hausmann and American rookie Anna Morgan.

It is her third Ladies European Tour title, and her second in the space of a month after the KPMG Women’s Irish Open at The K Club.

Alexander started Sunday tied for the lead with Sweden’s Moa Folke and Germany’s Alexandra Försterling. A birdie at the first was cancelled out by a double bogey at the second, and after another dropped shot at the fifth she was four behind. Her eagle at the par-5 ninth pulled her back into a share of the lead with Folke and Hausmann at the turn. Morgan birdied the 15th to draw level, but Alexander birdied the 15th, 16th and 18th to move clear. At the last she hit a big drive, pitched to six feet and holed the putt.

Hausmann’s closing 64 was the round of the day. Folke and Försterling each shot 74 to finish in a four-way tie for fifth. Italy’s Alessandra Fanali and Anna Zanusso shared ninth.

According to the tour, the win extends Alexander’s lead at the top of the Order of Merit over Anna Huang heading into the final stretch of the season. Her first LET title came only last year, at the 2025 Tipsport Czech Ladies Open.

“My game’s in the right place to win golf tournaments,” she said afterwards.

Golf Club Milano sits inside the park at Monza, alongside the motor-racing circuit.

Alexander’s next start is the Aramco Korea Championship.
