Vijay Singh wins the SAS Championship at 63 with three rounds of 69

Singh chipped in at the 10th to take the lead for good at Prestonwood and beat Ernie Els by two. Only Bernhard Langer has won on PGA TOUR Champions at an older age.

Vijay Singh shot 69 in each round at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary, North Carolina, and won the SAS Championship by two shots from Ernie Els on Sunday. At 63 he is the second-oldest winner in the history of PGA TOUR Champions. All six wins by older players belong to Bernhard Langer, according to Golf Today. Singh’s total of 207, −9, equals the highest winning score in the event’s history, Alex Cejka’s last year. He took $345,000 from a $2.3 million purse.

Singh started the final round in a three-way tie at −6 with Tim O’Neal and Freddie Jacobson, and was two behind both of them after seven holes. At the 9th, O’Neal made a double bogey and Jacobson a bogey, according to the Associated Press. Singh holed a short birdie putt there to draw level with Jacobson at −7. He chipped in for birdie at the 10th to lead outright and birdied the par-5 12th to go three clear. He parred the last six holes.

Els, who turned 57 on Saturday, went round in a bogey-free 69 and birdied the 17th, but got no closer than two. O’Neal shot 73 and tied for fifth. Jacobson came home in 40 for a 74 and slipped into a tie for 10th.

Singh, who said he had “been very lazy practicing”, had not finished better than a tie for 11th in 2026 before this week, and started the event 57th in the Charles Schwab Cup standings. It is his sixth win on the over-50 tour, in his 193rd start, and his first since the Ally Challenge in August 2023. He had played the SAS Championship eight times without winning; his best was a tie for second in 2017.
