Grant Forrest birdies the last to win the Open de España
Grant Forrest chipped to three feet at the last and holed the putt to win the Open de España by one at −14, earning a first Masters invitation.
Grant Forrest chipped to just over three feet on the par-four 18th at Club de Campo on Sunday and holed the putt for a closing 70. Forrest, a 33-year-old Scot, finished on 14 under, a total of 270, one ahead of Victor Perez and Eugenio Chacarra, and collects €567,564.34.
Perez, level with him as they played the last, chipped to 10 feet and missed the putt that would have forced a play-off.
Forrest arrived in Madrid having missed the cut in eight of his previous nine events. He shared the 54-hole lead with Joe Dean at −13 and survived three front-nine bogeys in the final round. It is his third DP World Tour title and the first he has won outside Scotland; the previous one was the 2025 Nexo Championship. The win also earns him a first Masters invitation for April and a spot at St Andrews for the 155th Open.
Eugenio Chacarra started the day five behind and had drawn level with the leaders before a bogey at the 17th left him one short with a 66. He played all week with a fractured toe. The result lifts him above Rory McIlroy into second in the Race to Dubai.
Daniel Brown had the round of the day, a 64 that finished with five straight birdies and took him into a share of fifth. Shane Lowry closed with a bogey-free 68 to finish tied 13th.
