Yin's four-footer on the 16th wins her a second Buick LPGA Shanghai
Ruoning Yin came from two behind to beat Hye-Jin Choi by one shot at Sheshan and take $480,000. It is her seventh LPGA Tour title and her second win in two starts.
Ruoning Yin and Hye-Jin Choi were level from the 10th hole to the 15th at Sheshan Golf Club on Sunday. Yin missed a ten-footer for birdie on the 15th, holed from four feet on the 16th to go one ahead, and won the Buick LPGA Shanghai by a shot on −11. The Associated Press reported the closing holes.
She closed with a 68 and earned $480,000 from the $3.2 million purse. She had started the day two behind Choi, who shot 71.
Yin also won this event in 2024; she and Danielle Kang are the only players to have won it twice. The title is her seventh on the LPGA Tour, the 2023 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship among them, and follows her win at the FM Championship in her previous start. Shanshan Feng holds the record for a Chinese player, with ten. According to the LPGA, the cheque takes Yin’s official earnings for the season past $3 million. She is the seventh player with more than one win in 2026, after Nelly Korda, Hyo Joo Kim, Hannah Green, Jeeno Thitikul, Haeran Ryu and Miyu Yamashita.
She had moved into contention with a bogey-free 67 on Saturday that needed only 26 putts. “Even though I missed six greens, my scramble saved me,” she said after the round.
Choi opened with a 64 and led after each of the first three rounds, by three shots, then two, then one. She has played more than 100 LPGA events since joining the tour in 2022 without winning. Second place was worth $293,410.
Carlota Ciganda finished fifth at −6. On Saturday she was given a two-stroke penalty for slow play on the 13th, which turned a par into a double bogey; without it she would have finished on −8, level with Amy Yang in third. Yealimi Noh was also penalised for slow play that day and shot 76. Thitikul, the defending champion, closed with a 69 to tie for eighth. She had won the LOTTE Championship in Hawaii earlier in the month.
