Round report

Katsuragawa's record-equalling 63 puts him two clear in Korea

Yuto Katsuragawa, 106th in the Race to Dubai at the start of the week, leads the Genesis Championship on −13 after a bogey-free 63. Casey Jarvis is second; Si Woo Kim is three back.

Yuto Katsuragawa equalled the Woo Jeong Hills course record with a bogey-free 63 in the third round of the Genesis Championship on Saturday and goes into the last day two shots clear on −13. He made eight birdies; the record, set by Jinam Kang, had stood since 2006. He arrived in Cheonan 106th in the Race to Dubai, outside the top 100 who keep their cards for 2027, and is projected to move up to 27th, inside the top 70 who qualify for the Play-Offs.

He started five behind Casey Jarvis and Antoine Rozner and made four birdies in his first five holes. He birdied the 14th and 15th, and a putt of about three feet at the par-five 18th made it a two-shot lead. “After the Irish Open, I met a new putting coach and he was very helpful to get me in good form like this today,” Katsuragawa said. His only DP World Tour title, the 2024 ISPS Handa Championship in Japan, also came with a final-round 63.

Jarvis birdied the 2nd and was three clear after the 5th. At the 12th he hit his tee shot out of bounds and saved bogey, and a 70 left him on −11. A win on Sunday, his third of the season after the Magical Kenya Open and the South African Open in February, would lift him to second in the Race to Dubai.

Si Woo Kim three back

Si Woo Kim’s bogey-free 67 included birdies at the par-five 5th and 8th and at the 11th and 12th. He is 14th in the world and a four-time PGA TOUR winner, but he has yet to win on the DP World Tour, and this is his 60th start on it. He has never won a tournament in Korea as a professional. Sanghun Shin, who leads the KPGA Tour’s Genesis Points list, shares third with him.

Rozner bogeyed the 2nd and 3rd, his first dropped shots of the week, and birdied the 15th and 18th for a 71. He started the week 77th in the Race to Dubai, seven places outside the Play-Offs. Ryan Fox, the Open champion, is four back after a 69. Eugenio Chacarra, who leads the Race to Dubai, is tied 30th on −3, ten behind.

The final round was under way when this report went up, with live scores on the official leaderboard. The Play-Offs start in Abu Dhabi on 5 November, and the season ends in Dubai from 12 to 15 November.
